RSPCA Cupcake Day

Posted in: Uncategorized by on August 16, 2009

OK, I know this is not my usual photography related post but I feel this is for a worthy cause!
Tomorrow (Monday 17/8/09) is RSPCA cupcake day. This is an event aimed to raise money and awareness of the RSPCA by creating animal themed cupcakes and offering them for sale. Pauline. my wife,  decided that she as she is known in her workplace for her cupcakes, she would like to participate. We spent a good bit of today in the kitchen and made 48 cupcakes (yes me too!). These are the results of our efforts.

If somebody participates in cupcake day in your organisation, please give generously as this is a very worthy event.

Kalbarri Sunset

These were taken in May whilst visiting Kalbarri.  After missing th first couple of sunsets and only hearing about them in the caravan park, we were pretty stoked to see this sunset – absolutely magical!

Pinnacles

Hi all,

Having a great time up here and thinking of those of you at work! (NOT!)

Visited the Pinnacles in the Nambung National Park a few days ago and found it quite interesting.  Worth a visit if you have not been before.

Freo Sunset

Posted in: Uncategorized by on April 27, 2009

Did anybody catch the sunset last night (Sunday)?   It was pretty magnificient!  I was strolling about Fremantle with the family and some friends and we thought it was pretty good.  But just as we sat down at Sweetlips for some fish and chips (Damn good fish and chips by the way!) we noticed the last few minutes of the sunset were so much better!

Quick action was needed so I deserted them at the table, grabbed the camera and went to the beach for some pics.  It was only then that I noticed the reflections of colour in the waterline.  A great evening topped with a great sunset!

Ok before you comment….I guess this post is not before time!

I have been working down south through the last week and staying in Bunbury.  When we got the opportunity, we got out with the cameras.

Here are few of my pics….(click for a larger image)

However, this morning turned on an amazing sunrise. I don’t know what it was like in Perth but in Bunbury it was magnificient! So, on our way to work, we stopped at this intersection and took a few photos.

Truck on Coalfields Highway

Posted in: Uncategorized by on February 11, 2009

The other night, a couple of collegues and I stopped alongside the Coalfields highway about 20 KM west of Collie.  Initially we were taking shots of the full moon and the well lit-up Worsley Alumina refinery (probably about 10KM away).

After a few poor attempts at these shots, I turned my camera to the highway and started shooting 10 second exposures along the highway.

As I am currently working away from home, this pic is completly straight from the camera with no post processing.  Also, as we did not intend to stop, this was taken from a wobbly telstra post made 200mm pipe and not my more stable tripod!

Burswood Christmas Tree

Burswood Christmas Tree

Hi all,

Not sure exactly who is watching this blog but I just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas!

2008 has certainly brought many challenges and certainly been a great year for getting out with friends on photoshoots – I have enjoyed them all (even getting to South Perth by 6am!).  Each time brings more challenges to conquer.  So, lets be sure that we get out and about just as much or maybe even more in 2009.

So, make sure you all have a very safe Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in 2009.

Adrian.

Old Swan Brewery

Old Swan Brewery

Yesterday morning, a small group of us got together before dawn and shot a few photos around the Old Swan Brewery / Crawley area.  This was also great for me as it was the first chance I could put my new 40-150mm lens to the test.  I was impressed afer shooting 14-45mm for so long!

This is the Old Swan brewery – The original building was built in 1877 and serviced as a brewery for many years before becoming run down.  It was then refurbished and reopened as a cafe and restaurant complex.  I had the opportunity to dine there last year for Breakfast and it was a fantastic morning – Highly recommended.

Perth from the Narrows

Perth from the Narrows

This shot was taken from the Narrows bridge 1 week before the Redbull Air race – Hence the “Perth” on the opposite foreshore.  The picture simply makes me wonder how many cities in Australia – or even the world gives you the opportunity to relax whilst fishing opposite such a beautiful view.  I am guessing that there would not be too many.
